Bon Iver‘s record label has urged fans not to buy the free commemorative newspapers handed out with his new album on eBay.

Some sellers are auctioning off the limited newspaper which contains imagery related to the ’22, A Million’ album, for over $1,000.

But the singer’s record company Jagjaguwar have taken to Twitter to appeal to fans not to buy them and assured fans more newspapers are on the way.

They wrote: “Friends, we made PLENTY of these #22AMILLION newspapers. We’re working on a plan to get them out to you. Do not spend $$$$ on them on Ebay.”

Bon Iver fans gathered at London’s Rough Trade East record shop yesterday (September 29) for a special album playback event.

The band organised similar playback events at 10 other locations around the world, including Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, Paris and bandleader Justin Vernon’s hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. All were announced a day before on Bon Iver’s Instagram.

Fans who attended the London event reported that the new album, was played on cassette and the free newspapers were also handed out. The limited edition newspapers, had already been handed out a day earlier in Berlin and Eau Claire.

The album was recorded at April Base Studios in Fall Creek, Wisconsin, as well as in London and Lisbon, while the artwork has been designed by New York-based artist Eric Timothy Carlson. Bandleader Justin Vernon has already played the record live in full, debuting the album’s material at his own Eaux Claires Festival in Wisconsin this summer.

The new album is available to stream online. Listen below. In our 4/5 review, we hailed ’22, A Million’ for it’s “otherworldliness that makes it soar”.
