Courtney Love has claimed that many grunge-era hits were written about her.

The Hole singer said she dated so many singers in grunge bands that it was inevitable many songs would be written about her.

Love was married to Kurt Cobain before his death in 1994, and also had a relationship with Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan.

In an interview with actress Anna Faris for her podcast Anna Faris Is Unqualified, Love revealed she was a fan of satellite radio station Sirius XM’s show Lithium, named after Nirvana’s hit.

Love said: “I listen to Lithium, which is like all of the ‘90s songs and a lot of them are actually about me, which is interesting. There’s so many Smashing Pumpkins songs about me, there’s a Bush song about me.”

She added: “I remember I used to date this movie star in the ‘90s and we were listening to KROQ. Of six songs in a row, five of them were about me. I told him that, and he was ‘No, they aren’t!’ I was: ‘Yeah, they are. I dated every one of those guys, dude.’ He was like: ‘You’re such a slut!’”

Love, whose last album with Hole was ‘Nobody’s Daughter’ in 2010, said she had such a messiah complex on stage that she didn’t enjoy supporting Lana Del Rey at the singer’s intimate theatre tour last year.

Love told Faris: “Last year I toured with Lana Del Ray, after playing a brief stint of playing 2-3,000-seaters. I didn’t really like them. They’re not as fun as 10-20,000 seaters. You get a bigger vibe, if you have a messianic complex. I think I’m the messiah, and I want you to drink my Kool-Aid when I’m on stage. A shot of tequila, and I think I’m Jesusette.”
