Justin Bieber has apologised to fans who felt elements of his recent Live Lounge performance were a disappointment.

The singer performed stripped down versions of four of his hits – ‘What Do You Mean?’, ‘Love Yourself’, Major Lazer collaboration ‘Cold Water’ and DJ Snake hook-up ‘Let Me Love You’ – plus covers of Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’ and Tupac’s ‘Thugz Mansion’ in a special set yesterday (September 1) to kick off Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month.

During the session, some fans wrote on Twitter that his interview segments with hosts Clara Amfo and Nick Grimshaw were “cringey” and “awkward”.

However, other fans shared more positive comments about the quality of his vocals during the performance.

After the performance, Bieber took to Twitter to tell fans he had been struck with nerves during his time on Radio 1. “I don’t usually get nervous but tonight I was thrown off and I was. Sorry about that. Really wanted to be my best. Hope u all had fun,” he wrote.

Bieber’s camp were recently forced to deny rumours that he was miming during his headline set at last month’s V Festival. Read the NME review of his controversial V set here.
