Beach Vibes was set to take place in Riviera Maya on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula between January 26-28, with the James Murphy-led band taking up curation duties alongside promoters CID. LCD were set to perform two headlining sets across the weekend, while the likes of Hot Chip, Run The Jewels and Holy Ghost! were all booked to play.
However, as reported by Pitchfork, the festival has now been cancelled, with an official statement stating that Beach Vibes “was not coming together in the way that it was envisioned.”
“All parties have agreed that putting on an event that is less than 100% would be a disservice to the fans and bands alike,” a statement on Beach Vibes’ website reads. “Therefore, cancelling the weekend-long event is in the best interest of all involved.
“Fans who purchased all-inclusive packages will be refunded in full, including related airfare expenses, and will receive direct communication from CID Presents in the coming days.”
Hong Kong’s Clockenflap Festival revealed the band’s plans when issuing a statement about LCD’s cancelled appearance at their event, citing “studio scheduling conflicts related to their new album.”
